Eating Disorder Resource Centre of Ireland
The Eating Disorder Resource Centre of Ireland are only too aware of the importance of maintaining a high standard of therapy and treatment being delivered to individuals experiencing eating disorders and we continually strive at maintaining our standard of excellence.
We require each practitioner to adhere to the following criteria in order to become a member of the network.
1. Supervision must be undertaken by all members and members must be committed to maintaining supervision. A list of supervisors is available in each members starter pack and these supervisors are fully accredited and located nationwide. A letter confirming that the practitioner is in supervision must be included with the network membership contract when applying for membership or renewal.
2. Appropriate insurance (personal and professional indemnity) must be acquired and maintained by the member. A copy of the practitioners insurance certificate must also be included with contract when applying for membership or renewal.
3. Members must be committed to upgrading their skills and knowledge base through the use of journals/books/courses/workshops and conferences. Information on how to access the above are all supplied by the Resource Centre.
4. When treating a client , members must adhere to our ‘Code of Ethics’ and at all times must be respectful, congruent, accepting and non judgemental of all clients.
5. Members must use the various techniques and tools shown during training ie…. Lifeline, pie chart, and the use of food diaries to elicit information about the clients relationship with themselves and food.
6. Members must at all times remember the confidentiality clause. It is totally inappropriate to speak about clients or client sessions with anyone other than a supervisor or when in peer supervision. Members must also secure all information received from clients.
7. Members need to attend the ‘Network Day Meetings’ through out the year as they address various aspects of the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, enhance skills, offer peer supervision, and also provide an excellent opportunity for all members to network !
